Folk remedies for stomatitis. We are treated with herbs

Stomatitis usually affects young children whose immunity is not fully formed. But this inflammation of the oral mucosa sometimes occurs in adults due to the presence of chronic diseases of the digestive system, trauma or immunodeficiency.

Possible reasons

Despite the prevalence of this disease, the causes of its development are not fully understood. It may have an allergic nature or be the result of an injury. Emotional stress, prolonged depression, chronic diseases, chemotherapy, hormonal failures can so weaken the body that it will not be able to protect itself from infection of a viral, bacterial or fungal nature. Sometimes the cause is an unbalanced diet, with insufficient content of B vitamins, folic acid and some other vitamins and trace elements in food. Even dentures and toothpaste can cause an outbreak of stomatitis. The saddest thing is that the disease often recurs and can be transmitted genetically. Official medicine believes that stomatitis develops when the immune system, for unknown reasons, cannot recognize any molecule and begins to attack it.

Symptoms

First, small redness and swelling appear on the inside of the cheeks, lips, upper and lower palate. At the same time, a person feels a slight burning or tingling sensation. Then a rounded ulcer forms at this place, the center of which is covered with a white film, and the edges are enclosed in a reddish oval. These ulcers are painful, prevent you from eating, talking, moving your tongue or lips. Usually these ulcers heal within a couple of weeks. The probability of a recurrence of the disease is quite high. In many people, it is repeated 3-4 times a year, but it also happens that new ulcers appear almost immediately after the old ones heal, the disease becomes chronic.

If children usually suffer from fungal stomatitis, which is caused by yeast-like candida, then stomatitis in adults can be caused by the herpes virus, bacterial or viral infection on the injured area, food allergies. Sometimes ulcers located close to each other merge and form deep painful ulceration, the mucosa swells, blisters form on it, which after a while burst and form new ulcers. The gums begin to bleed, the lymph nodes begin to increase.

Folk methods of treatment

Folk remedies for stomatitis can be used even before going to the doctor. Sometimes, in order to get to a specialist, you have to make an appointment in advance or get on a regular bus, which does not run every day. If you quickly visited the doctor, and certain medications were prescribed to you, then folk methods can be combined with medical treatment, the doctor himself, for sure, will recommend it to you. Kombucha, propolis tincture, soda solution and sea buckthorn oil are well–known folk remedies for stomatitis. They simply lubricate the ulcers several times a day with a cotton swab, sometimes they disappear by the fourth day.

With this disease, medicinal herbs can be used, which should be brewed and rinsed with a decoction of the mouth every hour or two. The most effective:

- chamomile;

- calendula;

- St. John's wort;

- celandine;

- oak or aspen bark;

- sage;

- knotweed;

- badan root;

- thyme.

The leaves of kalanchoe or aloe do not even need to be brewed, they are thoroughly washed, chewed and rolled in the mouth in the area of the ulcer, without swallowing. Flax seed should be boiled for 10-15 minutes on low heat so that it gives up its mucus. Then this mucus is smeared with ulceration. Onion and garlic are also useful ingredients for the treatment of stomatitis. Onion juice is mixed with the same amount of water, you can add a little honey, and lubricate the inner surface of the mouth. Garlic is passed through a garlic press and applied to ulcers and inflamed places for a few minutes, and then cleaned and rinsed with a soda solution. To relieve inflammation, a gruel of raw potatoes is applied to the gums. Fresh cabbage or carrot juice is diluted by half with water and used for rinsing.

Such a wide variety of folk remedies for the treatment of stomatitis will allow everyone to choose something for themselves. After all, if honey and propolis are not in every house, then onions, garlic, potatoes and other vegetables will be found in the arsenal of any housewife. Although stomatitis is not considered a contagious disease, it is better to use separate dishes and towels during the disease, because, for example, with herpetic stomatitis, the herpes virus is very easy to catch through common dishes.
